Second Parish Court has jurisdiction over the West Bank of Jefferson Parish for traffic, criminal, and civil matters. The Jefferson Parish Clerk of Court serves as Clerk of Court for all proceedings.

Jurisdiction
Traffic & Criminal
- Misdemeanors (theft under $300, shoplifting under $100, disturbing the peace, simple battery, etc.)
- Driving While Intoxicated — 1st & 2nd offenses
- Title 14 traffic offenses (hit & run, ROMV, simple obstruction, etc.)
- All Title 32 traffic violations on the West Bank (speeding, driving under suspension, failure to yield, etc.)
- Traffic and traffic-accident offenses — fines may be paid at the Sheriff’s Office or online via JPSO eServices. Some infractions require a mandatory court appearance; no payment may be accepted when personal injury is involved. If delinquent on payments, contact the contempt department.
Civil
- Lawsuits where the amount in dispute is $50,000.00 or less
