The Jefferson Parish Clerk of Court has completed the digitization of its mortgage and conveyance index books — 200 bound volumes of real estate index records spanning Jefferson Parish history back to 1825, when the parish was created by legislative act. Many volumes weighed up to 40 pounds and had become worn from decades of public use; others had suffered water damage. Digitization ensures these records are protected against loss by fire, natural disaster, or other harm.
Since 1992, the Clerk of Court has imaged more than 125 million pages of documents across all departments. All images are preserved on archival-quality microfilm or Blu-ray non-rewriteable media using processes approved by the Louisiana Secretary of State.
Public Access
Images are available at no charge to the general public at the mortgage and conveyance research terminals on the 2nd floor of the Jefferson Parish General Government Building, 200 Derbigny St., Gretna.

Subscribers to the Clerk of Court’s remote access system, JeffNet, can access images 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year — enabling attorneys and notaries to conduct complete title research at any time in preparation for closings, mortgages, and acts of sale.
