Jefferson Parish needs nearly 1,400 trained election commissioners to staff 268 precincts for each election. Commissioners play a critical role in running a fair, orderly election — and the Clerk’s office is always looking for committed residents willing to serve.
Qualifications
To become an election commissioner, you must:
- Be a registered voter in Jefferson Parish who does not require assistance in voting;
- Not be a candidate in the election;
- Not have been convicted of an election offense under Chapter 10, Title 18, La. R.S.
Compensation
- A stipend of $200 (commissioners-in-charge receive $250);
- The opportunity to serve your community and make a direct difference in how Jefferson Parish elections are conducted.
