The Clerk of Court chairs the Board of Election Supervisors, a five-member body that oversees the integrity of every election in Jefferson Parish. Before an election, the Board randomly selects qualified citizens to serve as commissioners at each precinct. On election day, the Board convenes to count absentee ballots. After polls close, the Board meets again to officially certify the results before they are transmitted to the Louisiana Secretary of State. The Board also meets annually to designate commissioners-in-charge for each precinct.
