National Public Service Recognition Week

The goals of National Public Service Recognition Week, a week set aside each May to celebrate public servants and the work they do, are to (1) connect citizens to work of their government; (2) improve the perception and morale of public servants; and (3) inspire a new generation of public servants

Jefferson Parish’s Clerk of Court Jon Gegenheimer launched his Clerk in the Classroom program during Public Service Recognition Week to help acquaint high school students with the work done by the clerk’s office and with the various careers available in the public service sector. Mr. Gegenheimer and his staff visited social studies classrooms across Jefferson Parish and engaged the students in substantive discussions about public service and the workings of the clerk’s office. This program will continue throughout the 2011-2012 school year with plans to reach most of the high school seniors in the parish.
