People are being targeted by phone call, email, and messaging scams threatening them with prosecution for failing to comply with jury service. PLEASE DO NOT PAY ANY MONEY TO ANYONE WHO CALLS YOU CLAIMING TO REPRESENT THIS COURT. We will not call, email, or write you a letter, attempting to collect fines for failure to appear or respond to jury service. We will not ask for any sensitive information (social security number, driver’s license number, banking information, credit card/ATM numbers, etc.) via telephone or email.
Information about the Jury Duty scam
Take advantage of e-filing and fax filing by email (see information below). PLEASE TAKE NOTICE that in addition to e-filing documents through the JeffNet system, both civil and criminal documents may be filed by fax. Please refer to the fax filing phone numbers and email addresses provided on the Jefferson Parish Clerk of Court’s website specific to civil and criminal filings. Please also refer to the fax filing guidelines on the Clerk of Court’s website https://www.jpclerkofcourt.us/courts/24th-judicial-district-court/fax-filing-guidelines. Note that, effective January 1, 2026, the legislature has disallowed fax-filing in all state district courts – civil and criminal, including the parish courts. Attorneys may only e-file beginning January 1, 2026. In Jefferson Parish, those attorneys who don’t feel comfortable with e-filing may e-file through a court courier (court runner), whom they may hire/delegate to perform that service for them. This practice satisfies the mandatory e-filing requirement. Should you have any technical difficulties or need further assistance with either e-filing or fax filing by email, you may contact ComputerLab@jpclerkofcourt.us or the Clerk of Court’s IT department by phone at (504) 364-2976.
