Otherwise, the paper format documents will be held for pick up for a period of 30 days from the date of recordation. After that 30-day period, the paper documents will be disposed of in the normal course of business in accordance with retention schedules approved by the Louisiana Secretary of State.
Take advantage of e-filing and fax filing by email (see information below). PLEASE TAKE NOTICE that in addition to e-filing documents through the JeffNet system, both civil and criminal documents may be filed by fax. Please refer to the fax filing phone numbers and email addresses provided on the Jefferson Parish Clerk of Court’s website specific to civil and criminal filings. Please also refer to the fax filing guidelines on the Clerk of Court’s website https://www.jpclerkofcourt.us/courts/24th-judicial-district-court/fax-filing-guidelines. Note that, effective January 1, 2026, the legislature has disallowed fax and mail in filings in all state district courts – civil and criminal, including the parish courts. Attorneys can only file electronically, in person, or through a court courier (court runner), whom they may hire/delegate to perform that service for them. This practice satisfies the mandatory e-filing requirement. Should you have any technical difficulties or need further assistance with either e-filing or fax filing by email, you may contact support@jpclerkofcourt.us or the Clerk of Court’s IT department by phone at (504) 364-2976.
